Danish Contractor is happy with ReduClean Eco

High-performing bio-based cleaner helps improve image

Danish greenhouse farming is working hard on becoming more sustainable. Therefore, contract sprayer Mikael Pedersen from Odense is pleased with the arrival of ReduClean Eco. "This is exactly what horticulture needs. It works just as well as ReduClean, but is bio-based and carries the Eco seal of approval. My customers are really happy with it."

"My customers are satisfied with the results, so our choice for next year is actually already made. This is exactly what our greenhouse industry needs."

In early November, Mikael Pedersen already treated most of the greenhouses he had coated with ReduSol as recently as spring and summer. The big difference from last year is that this season he has consistently used ReduClean Eco. A one-time spray is sufficient to loosen the coating from the glass, so that it washes away with the next rain, leaving the greenhouse surface clean. This allows the greenhouse crops to once again take maximum advantage of available daylight, until irradiation becomes too intense in the spring and a new coating becomes desirable.

As good as ReduClean

“Our customers and we follow the same routines as always. The only difference is that cleaning is now done entirely with ReduClean Eco,” says the director/owner of MP Bygge Service, based in Odense. “When it came on the market earlier this year, my interest was immediately piqued. According to tests, the new product works just as well as the old ReduClean, and I can now confirm that. We used it at several farms this fall to remove ReduSol. To complete satisfaction, I might add.”

Manually applied

Most greenhouses in Denmark are not equipped with automatic deck cleaners. Pedersen and his staff therefore coat and clean manually with the hose, working from the gutters and along the side walls. As per the label, he applies 250 liters of ReduClean Eco per hectare. This is diluted with water first, of course. When applied manually, the concentration is usually 1 part detergent to 7 parts water. When applied via a deck cleaner (brush machine) it is usually 1:5.

Next year again

“It works immediately; sometimes you could see the coating come off after just a few minutes and wash away with the spray liquid to the gutter,” says the contract sprayer. “The next rain shower does the rest. My customers are satisfied with the results, so our choice for next year is actually already made. This is exactly what our greenhouse industry needs.”
